As you know, Legendary Vietnamese general Vo Nguyen Giap has passed away at 102 for last October. This was a sad memory of the whole Vietnam and international friend. Many of the mass media has talk about this event. However, in this article, we will talk about his resting place.

Born in Quang Binh, he spent all his timeline for the freedom of Vietnam, but he is always missing his home town. Thus, his last wish is to be comeback to his native homeland. As a result, an emotional burial service for General Giap took place in Vung Chua – Dao Yen on 13/10/2013.

Dao Yen (Yen Island) is located at Quang Dong, Quang Trach Distict of Quang Binh Province.The area of Vung Chua – Dao Yen belongs to Quang Dong Commune, Quang Trach District of Quang Binh Province. This location is located in Hon La pork industrial zone, under the foot of Deo Ngang pass (in border of Ha Tinh and Quang Binh province). This area is covered by three islands namely Hon La, Hon Gio and Hon Nom, making a triangular with a spectacular scene in the fairy tales. Therefore, Vung Chua area is pretty airtight, where is the shelter for many boats during storms. Moreover, Vung Chua is considered as a home of swallow. 

This land is chosen by General Giap from many years ago. In addition, Vung Chua – Dao Yen is formed by the formation of two landscapes. The first is Vung Chua beach which is situated in the mainland. And the rest is Dao Yen which is far from the land about 15 minutes by boat. In particular, Vung Chua is a small beach with a white sand and gentle sea waves. It is created by a rocky mountainside encroached into the sea, and people living here call it as Rong Mountain. The burial location of General Giap is in the North of Rong Mountain, and far from Rong peak about 1km. The natural landscape here is very beautiful, poetic. According to the researcher of fengshui, the resting place of General Giap achieve a criteria of Tu Tuong, as behind is Huyen Vu (black turtle) at Ngang pass, Thanh Long (blue turtle) is the left of the hill (one part of Ngang pass), Bach Ho (black turtle) is the low location at the right side and in front of this location is Chu Tuoc (red sparrow), a small island (Dao Yen, in front of sea). From Vung Chua forward to Dao Yen, there are two small connecting islands with total area of 10 hectares, far from Vung Chua 2km and from Rong peak more than 2km. Furthermore, being a harmonious combination of sea, mountain, island… so it is rarely having storm in this area. This is like just a gift from this land spending to a talent person like General Giap.

In the future, Vung Chua – Dao Yen will become a famous destination for locals and foreign tourists not only by the beautiful scenery, but also by the spiritual. People want to go here to show their own respect to Hero Giap.
